Abstract

Kesadaran masyarakat Indonesia terhadap pentingnya peran museum sebagai tempat pembelajaran akan sejarah ternyata tergolong masih rendah. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya stigma kuno dan membosankan yang melekat pada museum serta masih banyaknya museum dengan kondisi yang kurang terurus. “Museum Etnografi dan Pusat Kajian Kematian UNAIR” juga memiliki beberapa permasalahan pada interiornya, khususnya pada sirkulasi ruang dan presentasi display infografis yang tidak efektik sehingga diperlukannya pembaharuan pada interior Museum Etnografi. Sesuai dengan latar belakang dan permasalahan Museum Etnografi UNAIR, konsep desain yang akan diterapkan adalah konsep desain interior rekreatif dan interaktif dengan menggunakan bantuan multimedia dalam penyampaian informasi. Dengan konsep desain ini, diharapkan Museum Etnografi dapat menjadi tujuan edukasi sekaligus rekreasi di kota Surabaya dan sekitarnya.

The importance of Museum’s role as a place to study history has a low awareness from the citizens of Indonesia. This is happening due to the old-and-boring stigma of the museum and because of a lot of unmaintained Museum. “Museum Etnografi dan Pusat Kajian Kematian UNAIR” has a similar condition on its interior, especially the untidy room sirculation and ineffective infographic display, therefore, renewal of the interior is needed. According to the museum’s background and problems, the concept of recreative and interactive museum design will be applied by using the help of multimedia in delivering the content information. With this design concept, it is expected that Museum Etnografi could be an educational and recreational destination in Surabaya.
