Abstract

Silika mesopori dewasa ini banyak diminati terutama dalam bidang obat-obatan, pengolahan makanan, katalis maupun sebagai adsorben pada zat pewarna. Agar produk yang dihasilkan berbentuk bubuk halus dengan surface area yang besar disertai morfologi yang terkontrol, digunakan metode sintesa berupa spray drying. Metode sol-gel digunakan untuk preparasi larutan prekursor dari waterglass yang akan diumpankan menuju alat spray drying. Variabel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu laju volumetrik larutan prekursor dan flowrate udara panas. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) juga digunakan untuk melihat pola alir serta distribusi suhu yang akan dibandingkan dengan hasil eksperimen. Selain itu, pemodelan juga digunakan untuk melihat profil kecepatan, kecepatan droplet serta fraksi massa air pada udara panas. Berdasarkan hasil eksperimen, didapati untuk variabel laju alir larutan prekursor serta kecepatan udara panas dengan surface area terbesar yaitu pada laju alir 1,6 mL/menit dan flowrate udara panas 414 L/menit dengan surface area 168,234 m2/g. Hasil dari perbandingan pemodelan terhadap kecepatan udara panas diperoleh dengan deviasi sebesar 4,11%-8,97% sementara hasil dari perbandingan pemodelan terhadap suhu udara pans diperoleh dengan deviasi sebesar 28,89%-33,43%

Mesoporous silica is currently in great demand, especially in the fields of medicine, food processing, catalysts or as an adsorbent in dyes. In order for the resulting product to be in the form of a fine powder with a large surface area and controlled morphology, a synthetic method in the form of spray drying is used. The sol-gel method is used for the preparation of precursor solutions from the waterglass which will be fed to the spray drying apparatus. The variables used in this study were the volumetric rate of the precursor solution and the flow rate of hot air. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is also used to see the flow pattern and temperature distribution to be compared with the experimental results. In addition, modeling is also used to see the profile velocity, droplet velocity, and air mass fraction in hot air. Based on the experimental results, it was found that the variables of the precursor solution flow rate and the hot air velocity with the largest surface area were for the flow rate of 1.6 mL/minute and the hot air flow rate of 414 L / min with a surface area of 168.234 m2/g. The results of the comparison of modeling to hot air velocity obtained with a deviation of 4.11% -8.97% while the results of the comparison of modeling to air temperature obtained with a deviation of 28.89% -33.43%
