Abstract
Kecelekaan Pesawat TWA 800, sebuah Pesawat
tangki sayap tengah. Karena kecelakaan tersebut, Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) melakukan evaluasi guna
meningkatkan persyaratan keamanan tangki bahan bakar
pesawat komersial. Salah satu cara yang
direkomendasikan oleh National Transportation Safety
Board (NTSB) adalah mempertahankan bahan bakar yang
cukup di tangki bahan bakar pesawat supaya peningkatan
suhu bahan bakarnya bisa dibatasi sehingga bahan bakar
selalu ada di bawah batas ledakan. Dari evaluasi tersebut,
kemudian FAA membentuk Fuel Flammability Task
Group. Yang memiliki tugas untuk meninjau data
mengenai ledakan bahan bakar Jet A di tangki pesawat
bawah 10 mJ.

The TWA 800 aircraft accident, a Boeing 747 on
July 17, 1996, was said to have been caused by an
explosion of fuel in a central wing tank. Because of the
accident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
conducted an evaluation to improve the safety
requirements of commercial aircraft fuel tanks. One
method recommended by the National Transportation
Safety Board (NTSB) is to maintain sufficient fuel in the
aircraft's fuel tank so that the increase in fuel temperature
can be limited so that fuel is always below the explosion
limit. From this evaluation, the FAA then formed the Fuel
Flammability Task Group. Which has the duty to review
data regarding Jet A fuel explosions in aircraft tanks and
the minimum energy required by Jet A to start the
explosion.
This study uses data collection methods taken from
N-219 aircraft flight test data conducted by PT Dirgantara
Indonesia. The data is then processed and analyzed in
accordance with the resulting graph.
Based on the analysis of the data that has been
done, it can be concluded that the Flammability of Jet A-1
fuel is strongly influenced by temperature and altitude.
With the explanation of the lower temperature, the energy
required to reach the flammable point will be higher, as
well as the altitude. Then for minimum energy the N-219
fuel is safe from explosion if the value of E Ignation is
below 10 mJ
