Abstract

A breakwater is one of the beach protective buildings that serve to dampen the wave energy that comes towards the beach. The construction of breakwater requires a sturdy and strong material to withstand waves attack and ocean currents. One of the materials that are often used as a breakwater’s material is an artificial unit made of concrete. The use of cementitious concrete as an artificial unit material can cause an increase in air pollution so it requires an alternative material that more environmentally friendly. One of the alternative materials that can be used is geopolymer concrete.
Analysis of geopolymer concrete technical specifications as a material of the artificial units, determine the shape and size of the artificial unit, scale analysis physical test model of the artificial units, and physical model test of the artificial unit are conducted in this research.
The Geopolymer concrete specification according to the research of (Wibowo, 2019) has a compressive strength at 40.34 MPa and the setting time is 195 minutes. It can be concluded that the Geopolymer concrete material is a potential artificial unit material because the compressive strength is more than 35 MPa that according to concrete requirements in the seawater environment in SNI 2847 – 2013.
The form of the breakwater constituent material used in this study was polypods. In the manufacture of prototype objects, wave height assumed 5 m. From the calculation of the weight of the polypod prototype, it required polypod with 32909.58 kg of mass. To conduct physical models testing polypods, it used a scale of 1:50. The weight of the polypod model test used is 263.277 gr. Physical flume test for the polypod model test cannot be performed, because it is constrained by the test equipment development process due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So the coefficient stability of polypod material can not be determined.
