Abstract

Detached breakwater can be divided into two types, fixed and floating. Floating breakwater are an alternative choice of fixed breakwater because of their advantages and in recent years a lot of research has been conducted on floating breakwater. The strength of mooring is one aspect of floating breakwater design, so it is very important to discuss. This study discusses the effect of floating breakwater design on mooring tension. Mooring tension is obtained based on testing the floating breakwater design with slope and porosity variations using physical modeling. The physical modeling of floating breakwater was tested on the wave flume using regular wave. The results of the test show that the largest maximum tension occurs in floating breakwater with a slope angle of 45o and a pore of 0% is 14,26 kN/m2. Then for the results of the smallest maximum tension in the floating breakwater with a slope angle of 60o and a pore of 5% is 12,13 kN/m2.
