Abstract
Pondok pesantren adalah salah satu sarana pendidikan yang menyediakan asrama sebagai tempat menghuni para siswanya. Semakin banyak penghuni yang menempati asrama semakin banyak pula limbah yang dihasilkan, salah satunya adalah limbah cair hasil dari kegiatan mandi, cuci, kakus (MCK). Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Khoirul Huda 1 Surabaya memiliki jumlah penghuni dengan kapasitas maksimal 150 orang dengan adanya renovasi gedung yang sedang berjalan. Pondok pesantren ini memiliki beberapa sarana sanitasi yang dinilai kurang layak, oleh sebab itu perlu adanya upaya perbaikan sanitasi yang kurang layak, yaitu dengan membuat perencanaan instalasi pengolahan air limbah domestik.
Pemilihan teknologi pengolahan air limbah berdasarkan pada kebutuhan lahan, pembangunan, pengoperasian, perawatan, biaya investasi, dan efisiensi. Teknologi pengolahan air limbah domestik yang secara umum banyak digunakan untuk mengolah limbah cair domestik di Indonesia adalah Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR) dan Anaerobic Filter. Kedua unit ini sering dipilih karena biaya pembangunan dan perawatannya yang murah serta operasionalnya yang mudah, berdasarkan literatur dan penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya. Metode perencanaan dimulai dengan melakukan studi literatur terkait topik perencanaan. Pengumpulan data terdiri dari data primer maupun sekunder diperoleh melalui survei lapangan, sampling maupun dari laporan perencanaan terdahulu. Perhitungan Engineering Design mencakup perhitungan dimensi dan aspek hidrolika bangunan IPAL dan SOP operasi dan pemeliharaan IPAL.
Karakteristik limbah yang didapatkan dari dua titik sampling kemudian dihitung rata-ratanya didapatkan pH 7,97; TSS 241,66 mg/L; COD 249,76 mg/L; BOD 144,54 mg/L; minyak dan
lemak 21,33 mg/L. Berdasarkan perhitungan Engineering Design (ED), diperoleh hasil berupa dimensi grease trap (1,5 m x 0,75 m x 1 m), sumur pengumpul (3,1 m x 3,1 m x 3 m), Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (8,74 m x 2,3 m x 2,25 m). Anggaran biaya konstruksi IPAL Rp 123.100.000 dan anggaran biaya operasi dan pemeliharaan Rp 2.050.000. Pada unit Grease Trap dilakukan pembersihan secara
rutin berupa pengurasan minyak dan lemak setiap 1 hari
sekali untuk menghindari terjadinya penyumbatan.
Penyedotan tangki anaerobik pada unit ABR secara
berkala dilakukan setiap 24 bulan sekali.

Islamic boarding schools are one of the educational
facilities that provide dormitories as a place for students to live. The
more residents who occupy the dormitory the more waste is
generated, one of which is liquid waste resulting from bathing,
washing and toilet (MCK) activities. Islamic boarding school Khoirul
Huda 1 Surabaya has a number of residents with a maximum
capacity of 150 people with the ongoing building renovations. This
Islamic boarding school has several sanitation facilities that are
deemed inadequate, therefore there is a need for efforts to improve
sanitation that are not proper, namely by planning a domestic
wastewater treatment plant.
The choice of wastewater treatment technology is based
on land requirements, development, operation, maintenance,
investment costs and efficiency. Domestic wastewater treatment
technologies that are generally widely used to treat domestic
wastewater in Indonesia are Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR) and
Anaerobic Filter. These two units are often chosen because of their
low cost of construction and maintenance as well as their easy
operation, based on literature and previous studies. The planning
method begins by conducting a literature study regarding the
planning topic. Data collection consists of primary and secondary
data obtained through field surveys, sampling and from previous
planning reports. Engineering Design calculations include the
calculation of dimensions and hydraulic aspects of the WWTP
building and the SOP for the operation and maintenance of the
WWTP.
The characteristics of wastewater obtained from the two
sampling points then calculated to average are pH 7.97; TSS
241.66 mg/L; COD 249.76 mg/L; BOD 144.54 mg/L; oil and grease
21.33 mg/L. Based on Engineering Design (ED) calculations, the
results are the dimensions of the grease trap (1,5 m x 0,75 m x 1
m), sump well (3,1 m x 3,1 m x 3 m), Anaerobic Baffled Reactor
(8,74 m x 2,3 m x 2,25 m). WWTP construction cost budget Rp
123,100,000 and operating and maintenance cost budget Rp
2,050,000. Grease Trap units are cleaned routine in the form of oil
and grease drain every 1 day once to avoid blockages. Suction of
anaerobic tanks in ABR units every 24 months.
