Abstract

Passive vibration and noise reduction is very easy and inexpensive method to reduce viibration and noise in a system. The method is used by adding vibration insulator between base and the vibrating system. Rubber mount is vibration insulator commonly used to reduce vibration caused by system like pumps and motors. Currently the shapes and dimensions of rubber mount are very diverse. The shapes and dimensions of rubber mount will affect the stiffness of rubber mount. So it necessary to test the characteristics of dynamic response in test object due to rubber mounting.
In this study was conducted by taking data from simulation and experiment with block-shaped test object (4 kg). The variation in this study were the thickness of the rubber mount with a diameter 30 mm, working frequency 7-15 Hz, and unbalance mass of 400 gram, 800 gram and 1200 gram, and the position of the probe accelerometer on the Dual-axis Translational Shaking Table (DTST) on vertical and simultaneous directional vibration. The simulation is done by running the state variable that has been found by entering existing parameter values. The simulation is done by MATLAB Simulink software to obtain bode diagram of natural frequencies and acceleration dynamic responses. The experimental result is done by assembling DTST with supporting tools for data retrieval. The probe accelerometer is mounted on the test object and the DTST table to measure the acceleration of the test object and DTST table. The output of the experimental results is a graph of potential difference in the oscilloscope which is then processed into acceleration against time.
The result of this final project is acceleration dynamic response against frequency from test object and DTST table for each thickness variation of rubber mount used and also uses the working frequency 7-15 Hz. The results show that the thicker the rubber mount is used, the smaller dynamic response of the acceleration of the test object, while the acceleration response from DTST table will increase. Increasing the working frequency will increase the dynamic response of the test object and DTST table. The higher frequency, the higher dynamic response of the DTST table for each thickness variation of rubber mount, while the dynamic response of the test object did not change much and tends to be constant. The unbalance mass variation affects the acceleration response of test object and DTST table. The greater unbalance mass used, the higher value of dynamic response. The position of probe accelerometer that mounted on DTST table affects the dynamic response of DTST table. The further away from the center point of DTST table, the acceleration dynamic response will have larger error value compared to the simulation results.
