Abstract

Plants that are symbiotic with CMA have relatively better growth. Mycorrhizae can be applied to plants with packaging technologies, such as encapsulation. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of CMA capsules with various coating materials on the growth of maize plants, and to determine the percent root infection in maize plants. The method used was the application of CMA capsules with various coating materials when the plants were ±7 DAP and harvesting was carried out in the vegetative phase. Parameters measured were plant height, shoot:root ratio, root length, number of leaves and leaf area, as well as the percentage of mycorrhizal infections. Analysis of plant growth data used one-way ANOVA and if there was a significant difference, Duncan's test was performed, for percent infection was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that the application of CMA capsules with various coating materials had various effects on maize plant growth and the percentage of root infection. The results of the S2C3 treatment (Na-Alginate and Agarpac coating material 50%:50%) affected the growth of the maize crown. Meanwhile, S2C5 treatment (Na-Alginate and Nutrijell coating material 50%:50%) had an effect on plant root growth. The highest percentage yield was in the S2C4 treatment (Na-Alginate and Agarpac coating material 75%:25%) with an average of 87%.
