Abstract

The technological need for materials with characteristics
capable of operating at high temperatures is getting higher and higher. The oxidation process may occur at high operating temperatures which can affect the performance of the material. Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy that is capable of operating at high temperatures. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in temperature and oxidation time on the evolution of the oxide phase in Inconel 625. The method of this research is to carry out high-temperature oxidation of Inconel 625 at temperatures of 600℃, 700℃ and 800 with oxidation times of 2, 5, 10, 17 and 24 hours. The tests used in this study were X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD), and Metallography. In this study, it was found that increasing the temperature and the length of time for oxidation increased the formation and addition of phases to Inconel 625. The phases formed during oxidation were γ matriks, M23C6 and η. While the oxide layer formed is NiCr2O4.
