Abstract

Oil and gas production at floating offshore facilities is growing. This matter prompted the design of flexible riser as one of the solutions to channel exploration result from wellhead to floating offshore facilities, where. SPM is one of the system used by the floating offshore facilities as an offloading facilities, where a flexible riser connects the wellhead to the SPM . However in extreme conditions, floating offshore facilitites can not be moored to the SPM. One of the flexible riser configuration that is often used is lazy wave, where buoyancy module are added along a longer length of the flaexible riser. SPM motion response, flexible riser diameter, and the number of buoyancy modules on the flexible riser will greatly affect the dynamic tension of the flexible riser. This study discusses the maximum tension and minimum bending radius (MBR) due to variations in diameter and number of buoyancy modules on flexible risers in extreme conditions with two system conditions, intact and damage. From the results of the analysis, the larger the diameter of the flexible riser, the larger the maximum tension at the SPM point, while the smaller at the PLEM point and the more buoyancy modules used, the smaller the maximum tension at the SPM point, while the larger at the PLEM point. The larger the diameter of the flexible riser, the smaller the MBR in the SagBend area, while the larger at the HogBend area and the more buoyancy modules used, the larger the MBR in the SagBend area, while the smaller at the HogBend area.
