Abstract
Berkebun pada area padat penduduk atau urban farming sudah dilakukan oleh banyak kalangan masyarakat perkotaan dengan memanfaatkan lahan sempit atau pekarangan rumah. Tren berkebun ini mengalami peningkatan minat masyarakat dikarenakan kondisi pandemi. Beberapa masalah dihadapi oleh masyarakat khususnya pada sarana prasarana dan biaya yang diperlukan untuk urban farming. Metode self-watering system dapat menjadi solusi akan masalah tersebut karena menggunakan alat dan bahan yang mudah serta dapat dilakukan secara mandiri. Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat khususnya remaja akan pentingnya manfaat dari tanaman obat terbilang masih minim. Pengenalan budidaya dengan metode yang mudah melalui animasi eksplainer yang dikemas secara menarik dan informatif diharapkan dapat mengenalkan self-watering system kepada masyarakat.
Metode penelitian yang dilakukan pada perancangan ini dengan cara observasi tentang self-watering system, studi eksperimental dan depth interview kepada komunitas berkebun terkait konten video. Studi komparator video sejenis untuk menganalisa perbaikan dan sebagai pembanding dalam hal penyajian isi serta studi literatur sebagai keperluan data sekunder terkait pengumpulan data. Eksplorasi gaya visual yang diperlukan untuk menyasar target secara tepat. Setelah selesai proses pengumpulan data, dilakukan studi eksperimental video yang akan diujikan kepada ahli dan target audiens.
Perancangan ini menghasilkan luaran desain berupa animasi eksplainer dengan tema budidaya dengan metode self-watering system. Terdapat dua seri, yaitu seri pertama menjelaskan metode self-watering system secara keseluruhan, lalu pada seri kedua menjelaskan penerapannya dengan mengambil objek dua tumbuhan liar berkhasiat obat. Video animasi eksplainer memuat konten berupa metode menanam secara self-watering system, profil tumbuhan, bagian tumbuhan yang berkhasiat atau dapat dikonsumsi dan nantinya akan didistribusikan melalui platform Youtube.

Gardening in densely populated areas or urban farming has been carried out by many urban communities by utilizing narrow land or yards. This gardening trend has increased public interest due to pandemic conditions. Several problems are faced by the community, especially in the infrastructure and costs needed for urban farming. The self-watering system method can be a solution to this problem because it uses tools and materials that are easy and can be done independently. The lack of public knowledge, especially teenagers, about the importance of the benefits of medicinal plants is still minimal. The introduction of cultivation with an easy method through explanatory animation that is packaged in an interesting and informative way is expected to introduce the self-watering system to the public.
The research method used in this design is by observing the self-watering system, experimental studies and in-depth interviews with the gardening community regarding video content. A similar video comparator study to analyze improvements and as a comparison in terms of content presentation and literature study as secondary data needs related to data collection. Exploration of the visual style required to precisely target the target. After completing the data collection process, an experimental video study is conducted which will be tested on experts and the target audience.
This design produces a design output in the form of explanatory animation with the theme of cultivation with the self-watering system method. There are two series, the first series describes the self-watering system method, then the second series explains its application by taking two wild plants with medicinal properties as objects. The explanatory animation video contains content in the form of self-watering system planting methods, plant profiles, plant parts that are nutritious or can be consumed and will later be distributed through the Youtube platform.
