Abstract

The gravity data processing process is closely related to the selection of filters used to separate regional anomalies and residual anomalies. This study applied two filters in data processing to compare which filter was more appropriate for gravity data in the study area. The two types of filters are Moving Average Filter and Upward Continuation Filter. The study area was located in Probolinggo Regency, East Java. This study used satellite data GGMplus (Global Gravity Model Plus) 2013 in the form of coordinates and acceleration of gravity. This study operated a window width of 47 as a data input to Moving average Filter. The height of the Upward Continuation Filter in this study was 1,500 meters. The residual anomaly from the Moving Average Filter process has a value range of -19.3 mgal to 8.4 mgal. The low anomaly from the Moving Average filter had a value range of -19.3 mgal to -3.2 mgal, the moderate anomaly value was in the range of -2.7 mgal -4.7 mgal, and the high value gravity anomaly had a value range of 5.4 mgal-8.4mgal. The residual anomaly from the Upward Continuation Filter process had a value range of -6.8 mgal to 5.8 mgal. Low anomaly from Upward continuation process had -6.8 mgal to 0.4 mgal, moderate anomaly was in the range of 0.5 mgal to 2.9 mgal, and high anomaly had a value range of 3.3 mgal – 5.8 mgal. The estimated depth of the regional anomaly obtained is 5.899 meters while the estimated depth of the residual anomaly obtained is 432.46 meters.Of the two filters, the upward continuation filter showed results that were more representative than the moving average filter. RMS error residual anomaly from the Upward Continuation filter is 2.76%, while the residual anomaly for the Moving Average RMS filter is 8.04%.
