Abstract

Regenerative braking is braking that uses the torque effect of the motor when complications occur by generating negative torque to the vehicle wheels and converting mechanical energy from the motor into electrical energy to be charged to the battery. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) is an electronic control system that helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle during emergency braking by preventing the wheels from locking. Because energy efficiency is an important issue for electric vehicles, the ABS regenerative braking system was created. This study aims to design a regenerative ABS braking system using a microcontroller-controlled torque and hydraulic torque motor. The system uses a proximity sensor to measure speed, as well as a voltage divider circuit. Proximity sensor test results obtained an error of 0.76% and using a voltage sensor to measure voltage obtained an error value of 0.49%. Braking with motor torque results are not good with the slip ratio rising away from the setpoint value. The regenerative braking test with ABS obtained better results with the largest slip ratio of 0.23. Testing braking with motor torque obtained an average regenerative current of 0.27 A and an increase in SOC of 1.13% for 1 kΩ PWM input, 1.35% for 1.5 kΩ PWM input, 1.60% for PWM 2 input kΩ, 1.79% for the 2.5 kΩ PWM input, and 3.33% for the 3 kΩ PWM input. Regenerative braking testing with 3 kΩ ABS PWM input obtained a regenerative current of 0.25 A with an increase in SOC of 2.75%. The available motor torque obtains a torque value that is greater than the setpoint, which is 2.5 N•m.
