Abstract

Mojoroto District is one of the sub-districts in Kediri City, with a waste generation rate of 0.66 kg/person per day. Mojoroto District has 26 unit waste bank spread across 14 sub-districts, including six waste bank that actively collects waste. In 2022, the six waste bank units will carry out efforts to digitize the waste bank. This study aims to analyze the potential for waste reduction through waste banks. Then analyze the technical aspects and participation in waste processing and the use of digitization of waste banks in conducting waste buying and selling transactions. This study examines the technical and participation aspects of 6 waste bank units in Mojoroto District. The primary data collection method was through survey results for calculating waste generation at the source according to SNI 19-3964-1994 and interviews through questionnaires to 100 customer households and 100 non-customer households. In addition, generation, financial, and technical data were collected at six waste banks through interviews with waste bank managers. Secondary data is collected by other supporting documents such as scientific journals, government data, and annual reports of the waste bank. In this study, data was obtained that the activities of the waste bank can reduce waste in Mojoroto District by 0,35% of the total recycling waste generation. The composition of organic waste in Mojoroto District is dominated by vegetable and food waste, with 25% each. In comparison, inorganic waste is dominated by plastic waste at 10% and followed by paper waste at 7%. Furthermore, the calculation of the potential for waste reduction through waste banks in Mojoroto District is obtained and divided into two alternatives. The first alternative is if the waste bank can increase its service coverage, the waste reduction at the source will increase by 1%. In the second alternative, if the waste bank can increase its service coverage and can accept all types of waste , it can reduce waste at the source, which can increase by 1,9%. Customer participation in making deposits at the waste bank is influenced by the desire to increase income and want to help make the environment cleaner. For non-customers at this time still need to participate because the results of depositing waste are small, and there is no time to participate in these activities. Furthermore, the digitization of waste banks in Mojoroto District currently needs to show results in increasing waste reduction at the source. This is because there are still many disturbances in operating the application. Besides, customers dominated by the elderly prefer to make transactions manually rather than using the application
