Abstract

Ships are a means of transportation that is starting to be widely used throughout the world. One of the most important systems to support ship operations is the electrical system. One of the developments of the power distribution system on ships is the zonal distribution system. Zonal distribution systems offer more efficient power usage, and better power continuity. Zonal distribution can be done with AC systems or DC systems. In the distribution of electricity, there can be failures caused by internal and external factors. There are so many disturbances found in the electrical system, one of which is a short circuit disturbance. In this study to determine how much short circuit current interference (short circuit) using protection coordination simulation software. The simulation process is carried out on each bus in the four main conditions of the ship, namely sailing, maneuvering, loading unloading, and at port. When viewed from each condition, the short circuit current value that occurs in sailing conditions has decreased by 59.9% from before the reconfiguration of 136.49 kA while after the reconfiguration it is 54.651 kA. Then in maneuvering conditions the value of short circuit current decreased by 51.4% from before reconfiguration of 139.07 kA while after reconfiguration it was 67.527 kA. In addition, in the at port condition, the short circuit current value decreased by 68.8% from before the reconfiguration of 134.15 kA while after the reconfiguration it was 41.778 kA. Finally, in the loading unloading condition, the short circuit current value has decreased by 92% from before the reconfiguration of 130.77 kA while after the reconfiguration it is 11.638 kA. The simulation results have been analyzed to determine the best protection coordination so as not to interfere with the ship in operation. Based on the four conditions that the zonal distribution system on the load machinery 1 bus, JL, JC, JM exhaust supply bus has a different value of operating current (load flow) because the load on the bus can be set percentage of operation and can be set continuously or intermittently. Based on the four conditions that have been analyzed, it is concluded that after the reconfiguration process, there is a decrease in the value of short circuit currents that occur both in each load bus or in each condition. The increase and decrease in short circuit current is also influenced by the number of loads in the distribution.
