Abstract

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) dengan berbagai sifat unggulnya mampu menjadi material alternatif pengganti logam. Dengan sifat mekanisnya yang unggul, CFRP dapat diaplikasikan dalam bidang kedirgantaraan, salah satunya roket. Namun penggunaan CFRP memiliki keterbatasan berupa ketidakmampuan saat kondisi temperatur tinggi karena tersusun atas material organik, maka dari itu diperlukan adanya material pelapis untuk meningkatkan efisiensi CFRP pada temperatur tinggi. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pembuatan komposit Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) dari Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) dan polysilazane 1800 dengan metode yang digunakan yaitu pelapisan slurry YSZ-polysilazane menggunakan doctor blade yang dilanjutkan dengan proses curing. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan analisis pengaruh lama waktu proses curing yaitu 60, 120, dan 180 menit serta temperatur curing yang digunakan pada 130oC, 160oC, dan 190oC. Dilanjutkan analisis pengaruh waktu dan temperatur curing terhadap daya lekat dan konduktivitas termal dengan pengujian berupa Pull-Off Test, Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermal Conductivity Meter (TCM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy – Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX), pengujian thermal torch, dan uji densitas. Diperoleh hasil analisis bahwa semakin lama waktu dan semakin tinggi temperatur proses curing mampu meningkatkan daya lekat dan sifat konduktivitas termal dari komposit TBC YSZ-polysilazane. Nilai daya lekat tertinggi diperoleh spesimen dengan waktu curing 180 menit pada temperatur 190oC sebesar 0.74 MPa serta nilai konduktivitas termal terendah juga diperoleh spesimen dengan waktu curing 180 menit pada temperatur 190oC sebesar 0.16 W/mK yang mampu menurunkan temperatur dari 613oC ke 107.03oC menurut perhitungan serta menurut eksperimen mampu menurunkan temperatur hingga 139oC.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) can be an alternative material to replace metal because of its various excellent advantages. With it, CFRP is capable of being applied in the aerospace field, such as rockets. However, CFRP has a limit to being unable to withstand high temperatures because it is composed of organic materials, so it needs to coat to increase its efficiency. This research uses Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) composite made from Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) and Polysilazane 1800 with coating method slurry using doctor blade continues with the curing process. Time depth curing time at 60, 120, and 180 minutes, and curing temperature at 130°C, 160°C, and 190°C is analyzed to its ability on adhesion and thermal conductivity. Analysis conducted with test method Pull-Off Test, Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermal Conductivity Meter (TCM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy – Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX), thermal torch test, and density test. The result shows that the longer curing time with the higher curing temperature is able to increase TBC YSZ-polysilazane composite adhesion and thermal conductivity. The highest adhesion value is 0,74 MPa in the specimen with 180 minutes curing time on 190°C curing temperature, and it has the lowest thermal conductivity which is 0.16 W/mK, based on calculation, also reduces the temperature from 613°C to 107.03°C and based on the experiment it is able to reduce temperature to 139°C.
