Abstract

Biologi adalah ilmu kompleks multidisiplin yang memerlukan pengetahuan kimia, fisika, hingga matematika. Beberapa penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa materi biologi masih sulit untuk dipahami mempengaruhi pemahaman materi secara jelas dan menimbulkan miskonsepsi kedepannya, salah satunya adalah materi mengenai hormon tumbuhan (Fitohormon). Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis mendapatkan sebuah peluang untuk merancang media yang dapat menjelaskan materi fitohormon secara runtut dan ringan untuk dibaca seperti komik. Komik adalah salah satu bentuk media komunikasi visual dengan gambar dan tulisan yang berguna untuk menyampaikan pesan atau informasi sehingga mudah untuk dimengerti. Pemanfaatan konsep fantasi dari adaptasi antropomorfisme dinilai dapat menyampaikan materi fitohormon secara jelas dan ringan untuk dibaca berbagai kalangan. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan konten hiburan untuk para remaja yang dapat menambah pengetahuan akan peran fitohormon dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman yang nantinya bisa diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sesuai kebutuhan. Pelaksanaan riset seperti literature review, riset eksperimental, survey kuesioner, FGD (Focus Group Discussion), hingga in-depth interview dengan beberapa ahli dalam bidang biologi dan yang ahli dalam perancangan komik fantasi. Luaran dari perancangan ini adalah sebuah komik berjudul “Life of Phytohomones” dengan format webtoon yang setiap beberapa episode komik akan menampilkan proses kerja 1 jenis fitohormon yang berinteraksi dengan pemeran utama dalam cerita. Hasil perancangan ini diharapkan dapat menambah wawasan bagi kalangan muda mengenai jenis dan peran fitohormon yang dapat digunakan sesuai kebutuhan sehari-hari.

Biology is a multidisciplinary complex science that requires knowledge of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Several studies have also shown that biology material is still difficult to understand, affecting a clear understanding of the material and causing future misconceptions, one of which is material regarding plant hormones (phytohormones). Based on this, the writer has an opportunity to design media that can explain phytohormone material in a coherent and light way to be read like a comic. Comics are a form of visual communication media with pictures and writing that are useful for conveying messages or information so that it is easy to understand. The use of fantasy concepts from anthropomorphic adaptations is considered to be able to convey phytohormone material in a clear and light way for various groups to read. This design aims to provide entertainment content for teenagers who can increase knowledge of the role of phytohormones in plant growth and development which can later be applied in daily life as needed. Carrying out research such as literature reviews, experimental research, questionnaire surveys, FGDs (Focus Group Discussions), to in-depth interviews with several experts in the field of biology and those who are experts in designing fantasy comics. The output of this design is a comic entitled "Life of Phytohomones" with a webtoon format where every few episodes of the comic will display the working process of 1 type of phytohormone that interacts with the main character in the story. The results of this design are expected to add insight to young people regarding the types and roles of phytohormones that can be used according to their daily needs.
