Abstract

Indonesia is vulnerable to a variety of calamities, including natural disasters. Flooding is one of the natural catastrophes that occur as a result of excessive rainfall when there is a surplus of water that cannot be accommodated by the region's end network. A rise in rainfall and big occurrences are typically dynamic as the influence of global warming increases. Gowa Regency in South Sulawesi is classified as a flood-prone region. Sumbo Opu district has a sloping topography with a length of lowlands ranging in elevation from 0 to 25 meters above sea level. The drainage system is the engineering of infrastructure in a flood-prone location. The existing drainage channel in residential area of Paccinongan sub-district is not capable to hold the rainfall discharge and the existing elevation is inadequate which makes the water cannot flow to the outlet. New elevation and new channel dimensions need to be designed to prevent the residential area of Paccinongan sub-district from flooding. In this project, analytical studies was conducted to Based on the elevation data, the elevation needs to be reconstructed so that the runoff can flow to the outlet. Elevation that needs to be reconstructed is in 28 points. The channel dimension also needs to be larger to increase the capacity to accommodate the rainfall discharge. Based on the hydraulics analysis, the channel used is U-ditch with 3 types of dimensions which are channel with 1.6 m height and 1.6 m width, channel with 0.7 m height and 0.4 width, and channel with 0.8 height and 0.6 m width. The new drainage and elevation planned to overcome flooding problem in residential area of Paccinongan sub-district.
