Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a global public health problem with an ever-increasing prevalence rate, where around 2 out of 1000 Indonesian population suffer from CKD. When chronic kidney disease has reached terminal stage, there is a failure of kidney function in filtering blood so that its function needs to be replaced through dialysis process using a hemodialysis machine. The process of dialysis results in loss of body heat, which can lead to complications of the patient. The loss of body heat can be compensated by using the right dialysate fluid temperature, which is in the normal temperature range of the human body. The correct dialysate fluid temperature is obtained by controlling the reverse osmosis water temperature before entering the dialysate mixing system in the range of 35 – 41℃. Therefore, in this study, a reverse osmosis water preparation and control system is designed for dialysate mixing with the aim of keeping the incoming water temperature stable at a set temperature value. In this study, PT-100 sensor is used to read the water temperature value. PID control is used as the control system in this study. The PID control system is used to control actuators in the form of heaters based on feedback from sensors. The average results of the measurement errors of the two sensors were 0.281% and 0.194%. Based on the temperature control system testing, the parameter values of Kp, Ki, and Kd obtained were 51, 2.04, and 325.125. The control system can heat water up to 36℃ within 200 seconds
