Abstract

Insulating oil is an important part of a transformer because it can protect, cool, and prevent damage to the transformer. However, the longer the use of the transformer, the aging of the oil and paper insulation in the transformer will certainly experience a decrease in its performance, and moreover the influence of contaminants from aging paper insulation in the transformer. Therefore this study focuses on the effect of insulating paper on the breakdown voltage strength of Fe3O4 conductive nanofluid in transformers.
In this research, tests have been carried out which aim to analyze the main topics of concern to the author such as sedimentation testing, particle size analyzer testing, breakdown voltage testing, and partial discharge testing. Apart from all these tests, this research also focuses on the analysis of the gas contained in the Fe3O4 nanofluid mixed with cellulose after partial discharge and breakdown voltage disturbances using dissolved gas analysis (DGA) with various methods such as TDCG analysis, key gas, Roger ratio, and analysis Duval triangle. The results showed that Fe3O4 nanofluid mixed with cellulose paper had an effect on breakdown voltage and partial discharge strength. In addition, Fe3O4 nanofluid mixed with cellulose paper that has been subjected to breakdown voltage or partial discharge interference has a gas content dissolved in it. In this study, dissolved gas analysis using the key gas and Duval triangle methods could identify better and in more detail the gas content of Fe3O4 nanofluid mixed with cellulose paper than other dissolved gas methods.
