Abstract

Floating breakwater is a floating structure that has been used as one of the efforts in solving existing problems due to activities around the coast. Floating breakwater is becoming a more attractive alternative due to its mobility, cost effectiveness in deep coastal waters, and reduced impact on the marine environment. Floating breakwater consists of a floater that provides buoyancy to support the facility above the water surface. Floating breakwaters are moored using conventional mooring systems or taut mooringlines when operating on the high seas. In this
research, a numerical analysis is carried out on a new type floating breakwater model with a developed variation in the form of a porous double slope with a taut mooringline configuration to determine the motion characteristics of the new type of floating breakwater and the maximum tension on the mooringlines that occur in the form of motion RAO and tension RAO. This analysis is carried out by modeling a new type of floating breakwater based on floating breakwater experimental data that has been carried out previously using solidwork and ANSYS AQWA software. From the results of the study it was found that the RAO results obtained that the dominant movements are heave, surge and pitch. Based on the results of numerical testing, the greater the porosity level, the smaller the maximum stress produced. The porosity variations of 5% and 10% obtained the largest maximum stresses of 83.12 N and 76.14 N at 45° then 82.46 N and 82.95 N at 60°.
