Abstract
At the Tambakrejo Material Recovery Facility, solid waste processing is still limited to transportation, sorting, and disposal. The generation of solid waste in the Tambakrejo Material Recovery Facility reaches 15 tons per day. Meanwhile, there is only one conveyor and the solid waste generated has not been adequately segregated. Non-Biodegradable waste receives the most reduction and sorting, while biodegradable waste is still mixed and improperly sorted. This research aimed to determine the condition of existing solid waste management, identify the generation, density, and composition of solid waste, compare the feasibility of the Material Recovery Facility with Ministry of Public Works Decree Number 3 of 2013, redesign the Material Recovery Facility and provide cost estimates for the construction of TPS3R facilities by incorporating the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) method so that suggestions and recommendations can be given. The research was carried out by sampling for eight consecutive days to obtain solid waste generation data using the Load Count Analysis method and composition data according to SNI 19-3964-1994. Furthermore, population projections and solid waste generation are carried out for ten years to redesign the MRF. The redesign planning consists of a receiving area, a sorting area, a biodegradable waste container and shredding area, a composting area, and BSF area. It is equipped with an office, a cart parking area, residue area, warehouse, toilets, and a prayer room. The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) method is used in this redesign planning in order to help decompose the biodegradable wastes. Observations on the existing conditions showed that solid waste management was only transported from the source to the MRF and then transported to the landfill. The total solid waste generation in Tambakrejo MRF is 72.95 m3/day. Based on the calculation, the solid waste generation per person was 0.86 kg/person/day. The solid waste composition was dominated by food waste which is 51%. Based on the technical point of view, Tambakrejo MRF was not fulfilling the standard according to the Ministry of Public Works Decree No. 3 of 2013. For the planning of the TPS3R, several facilities need to be added to minimize the solid waste that serve the landfill, such as biodegradable waste shredding, non-biodegradable waste area, composting area, and also BSF area with the total area of TPS3R is 2683.61 m2. The redesign of Tambakrejo TPS3R required IDR 1,534,646,685.
