Abstract

Along with the installation of components in the oil and gas industry, risk and hazard assessments are required to anticipate the potential failures of production systems that could cause corporate losses. Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) and Hazard Operability Study (HAZOPS) is a common type of assessment that have been used by oil and gas companies. The purpose of this study is to analyze the risk-level of the TEG Contactor system with semi-quantitative RBI methods based on API RP 581 and hazard risk-rating with HAZOPS based on BS IEC 61882 on TEG Contactor. Risk Based Inspection is the categorization of risk level in a system of the plant production to minimize the component failures and its effect through environment. Meanwhile, HAZOPS is a hazard category assessment with a certain standard deviation of the components. TEG Contactor is one of a pressure vessel that have been used as a dehydration system. RBI and HAZOPS methods were performed to prevent component failure of TEG Contactor due to wet gas and rich glycol fluids which contain H2S and free water during the operating conditions. The risk assessment area is divided into top shell of TEG Contactor, bottom shell of TEG Contactor, inlet wet gas pipe, dry gas outlet pipe, lean glycol inlet pipe, and rich glycol outlet pipe. While the HAZOPS assessment area is divided by its fluids, there are inlet wet gas pipe to top shell TEG contactor through outlet dry gas pipe system and bottom shell TEG contactor to pipa inlet lean glycol through pipa outlet rich glycol system. From these studies, the results of RBI analysis on TEG Contactor system found that top shell TEG Contactor, inlet wet gas pipes, and methane gas dry outlets pipe have Medium risk level (1D). Whilst, bottom shell TEG Contactor, lean glycol inlet pipe, and rich glycol outlet pipe got Medium-High risk level (1E) because TEG liquid fluid tends to be instantaneous. For the results of HAZOPS analysis, the six components is included into low-level. After these scorings, the interval of inspections of each components is about every ten years with visual inspection and UT Thickness methods.
