Abstract

================================================================================================= Graphene is material that has simple structure, transparent, good electrical conductivity, high mechanical strength, and high electron mobility. Therefore, many researchers are exploring to use it in some applications, such as Radar absorbing material (RAM).This research uses reduced grapheme oxide (rGO) as basic material made from old coconut shell which was synthesized through heating and exfoliation process. The purposes of this research is to analyze formation of rGO phase and to analyze influence of heating temperature and chemical exfoliation process on reflection loss value from rGO of old coconut shell. This research employed two temperature variations in heating process at 400°C and 700°C. The chemical exfoliation process was carried out by addition of 1M HCl solution in 1:1, 1:5, and 1:10 mole ratio. After heating and exfoliation process, rGO take slicing process using ultrasonic cleaner device. Samples of rGO were analyzed using several characterizations: XRD, CHONS, XRF, and SEM-EDX to determine formation of rGO phase; PSA to determine particle size distribution; VNA to determine reflection loss value; and Electrical Conductivity Test to determine their electrical conductivity. Based on research that has been done, the conclusion is that the biggest reflection loss value is -8,42 dB at 10,52 GHz, with electrical conductivity value of 2,1 x 10-4 S/cm, and the average of particle size is 48.95 nm owned by rGO of old coconut shell heated at 400°C and exfoliated in 1:1 mole ratio.
