Abstract

======================================================================Research done on this final project using electrochemical cell method. In the electrochemical cell there are two electrode sections of cathode and anode. In the test the cathode used is the copper and the the anode used is the xinc. This study aims to determine the effect of salt molarity on the value of voltage and current, to know the effect of electrode cross-sectional area to the result of voltage and current, the difference of current and voltage values if given resistance or not and, knowing the maximum power value of the voltage and current results. In this study electrode arranged in series as much 14 cell with variations of salt mass that is 5,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,15, and 20 gr. The salt variation is given according to the salt content in seawater, water or solvent used as much as 100 ml. The result is the value of voltage, current, and power where the resulting maximum current yields are present at a slat massof 9 grams, with the maximum power being obtained is also present at a salt mass 9 grams. The value is located at the peak point on a salt mass of 9 grams, after the addition of the next salt the current results more continuously as the addition of salt. This occurs because water is unable to break down NaCl into Na+ and Cl-.
