Abstract

Sintesis serbuk Fe2TiO5 dengan bahan dasar batu besi lokal dari kabupaten Tanah Laut, Kalimantan Selatan telah dilakukan. Sintesis diawali dengan mensintesis Fe2O3 dari batu besi dengan metode kopresipitasi. Sintesis Fe2O3 diawali dengan melarutkan batu besi ke dalam HCl pada temperatur 70 °C selama 1,5 jam dan kemudian dilakukan penyaringan. Larutan lolos saring kemudian dititrasi dengan NH4OH sampai didapatkan pH 5. Hasil titrasi diendapkan dan dicuci menggunakan akuades, selanjutnya dilakukan pengeringan pada temperatur 110 °C. Serbuk kering dikalsinasi pada temperatur 800 °C selama 1 jam. Serbuk Fe2O3 hasil sintesis dicampur dengan serbuk TiO2 anatase dengan perbandingan mol 1:1 dan dilakukan proses milling selama 5 jam. Serbuk hasil pencampuran diuji menggunakan DTA/TG dan dikalsinasi pada temperatur 700 °C, 800 °C, 900 °C, 1000 °C, dan 1100 °C. Serbuk hasil kalsinasi dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa serbuk Fe2TiO5 sudah terbentuk pada temperatur 900 °C, namun Fe2TiO5 baru didapatkan pada temperatur 1000 °C dan 1100 °C. ukuran kristal Fe2TiO5 pada temperatur kalsinasi 900 °C, 1000 °C, dan 1100 °C berturut-turut adalah (172 ± 3) nm, (110 ±2) nm, dan (502 ± 11) nm. ============================================================ Synthesis of pseudobrookite Fe2TiO5 powders based on local ironstone from Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan has been performed. The synthesis started by synthesis of Fe2O3 powder from ironstone using the coprecipitation method. It included dissolving the iron stone into HCl at a temperature of 70 °C for 1.5 hours and then followed by filtering. The filtered solution was precipitated using NH4OH to reach a pH of 5, and the precipitate was washed with water. The result was then dried at 110 °C, and the dried powder was calcined at a temperature of 800 °C for 1 hour. The synthesized Fe2O3 powder was mixed with TiO2 anatase powder at 1:1 molar ratio using ball-milling for 5 hours. The mixed powder was characterized using DTA/TG to determine the appropriate calcination temperature to obtain Fe2TiO5. The mixed powder was calcined at a temperature of 700 °C, 800 °C, 900 °C, 1000 °C, and 1100 °C to study the phase evolution using XRD. Results showed that Fe2TiO5 started to form at 900 °C, but the pure Fe2TiO5 formed at 1000 °C and 1100 °C. The crystals size of Fe2TiO5 powder at a temperature of 900 °C, 1000 °C, and 1100 °C are (172 ± 3) nm, (110 ± 2) nm, and (502 ± 11) nm respectively.
