Abstract

Kebanyakan material automotif maupun alat-alat konstruksi umumnya menggunakan Aluminium Alloy (AA) 6061. Selain itu, paduan Aluminium 6061 mempunyai sifat-sifat yang menguntungkan seperti tahan terhadap korosi, dapat di perlaku-panaskan, ketangguhan baik, serta sifat mampu las yang baik, sehingga banyak indusri maju menggunakan material ini sebagai bahan utama dalam perancangan alat maupun konstruksi. Metode yang dapat diterapkan untuk mendapatkan aluminium dengan kekerasan dan kekuatan yang optimal antara lain dengan age hardening. Di dalam melakukan penelitian ini dibahas bagaimana pengaruh variasi holding time perlakuan aging pada paduan aluminium 6061 terhadap uji impak, uji kekerasan dan uji metalografi. Paduan aluminium seri 6061 dipotong sesuai dengan standart ASTM. Pada tahap pertama aluminium seri 6061 diberi perlakuan panas dengan suhu 3000C selama 1 jam, kemudian diquenching dengan media pendingin berupa air. Selanjutnya diberi perlakuan panas kembali pada suhu 1500C dengan variasi holding time 1 jam, 2 jam, 3 jam, 4 jam, dan 5 jam lalu diquenching dengan media pendingin berupa air. Setelah hasil proses aging, dilakukan uji metalografi, uji impak, dan uji kekerasan. Hasil uji kekerasan menggunakan Vickers Hardness Test didapatkan nilai kekerasan yang terus menurun dari holding time 1 jam memiliki nilai kekerasan 80,8 HVN hingga holding time 5 jam yang memiliki nilai kekerasan 47,4 HVN. Namun pada uji impak didapati kekuatan impak meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya waktu penahanannya dan peningkatan kekuatan impak yang signifikan terjadi di holding time 5 jam. Dimana pada holding time 4 jam memiliki kekuatan impak sebesar 0,55 Joule/mm2 dan pada holding time 5 jam kekuatan impaknya meningkat menjadi 1,21 Joule/mm2 karena struktur mikro aluminium berdifusi sampai mencapai homogen serta sifat aluminium berubah menjadi mampu menahan tegangan kejut. ======================================================================== Most automotive materials and construction tools generally use Aluminum Alloy (AA) 6061. In addition, Aluminum 6061 alloys have beneficial properties such as corrosion resistance, heat-treatment, good toughness, and good welding properties, so that many advanced industries use this material as the main ingredient in the design of tools and construction. The methods that can be applied to obtain aluminum with hardness and optimal strength, among others, with age hardening. In conducting this research, we discussed how the effect of aging variation of aging treatment on aluminum alloy 6061 to impact test, hardness test and metallographic test. The 6061 series aluminum alloy is cut in accordance with ASTM standard. In the first stage of aluminum series 6061 given heat treatment with a temperature of 300ºC for 1 hour, then diquenching with a water cooling medium. Furthermore, the heat treatment back at 150ºC with variations of holding time 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, and 5 hours ago diquenching with a cooling medium in the form of water. After the aging process, metallographic tests, impact tests, and hardness tests were performed. Violence test result using Vickers Hardness Test obtained by value of hardness which keep decreasing from holding time 1 hour have hardness value 80,8 HVN until holding time 5 hour having hardness value 47,4 HVN. However, in impact test found impact strength increased with increasing time of detention and significant impact strength increase occurred in holding time 5 hours. Where at 4 hours holding time has a impact strength of 0.55 Joule / mm2 and at holding time 5 hours its impact strength increased to 1.21 Joule / mm2 because the aluminum microstructure diffuses until it reach homogeneous and the aluminum properties turn to be able to withstand shock voltage.
