Abstract

======================================================================== Generally the use of dug wells is still used by rural communities. Not infrequently the owners want to drain or deepen the well, certainly requires people to get down to the bottom of the well. The drilling and drainage process itself can cause casualties. This is because there are several kinds of toxic gases in the underground that can be classified as dangerous gases. The harmful gases are carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, methane, etc.
Toxic gas detector for well excavation using this microcontroller has the work of this tool will be inserted into wells at a certain depth, then when detected toxic gas (ammonia gas and hydrogen sulfide gas), then the tool will send a warning signal to the surface of the well by wireless method , and will also be displayed on the PC.
The end result of this tool obtained average mean for H2S sensor is 82.8 seconds, while for NH3 sensor is 22.2 seconds. The lower limit of detectable PPM for H2S sensor is 2.872 PPM, while for NH3 sensor is 0.016 PPM. When the calibration is obtained the error for the H2S sensor is 0.01 - 0.03 PPM, while for NH3 sensor is 0.02 – 2.7 PPM and at the time of testing, H2S sensor in searching the right with H2S gas.
