Abstract

Sebagian besar tempat usaha laundry membuang limbahnya
langsung ke badan air tanpa pengolahan terlebih dulu. Air limbah
hari. Untuk membandingkan efisiensinya, parameter yang diukur
adalah kadar surfaktan, pH, suhu, rasio BOD/COD, morfologi
tanaman, berat basah dan kering.
Reaktor SSF dan SF menghasilkan efisiensi removal ratarata
84,87% dan 79,69% dengan HRT 3 hari. Reaktor dengan
HRT 6 hari menghasilkan removal sebesar 89,59% dengan aliran
SSF dan 82,45% dengan aliran SF.
Namun reaktor kontrol SSF 6 hari tanpa tanaman juga
memberikan efisiensi removal sebesar 83,83%. Hal ini
menunjukkan bahwa tanaman tidak berpengaruh besar pada
removal surfaktan.

Most of the laundry establishment place discharge their
wastewater directly to water body without any treatment. Laundry
wastewater contains some chemical substances such as sodium,
phosphate, boron, surfactant, ammonia and nitrogen in high
concentration. Without treatment, those substances could do
serious harm to the environment. Constructed wetland (CW) is
one of the treatment alternatives because it does not require
much cost and simple maintenance. Cyperus papyrus is one of
the plant known that able to treat organic pollutant in natural
wetland as well as constructed wetland.
This study analyzed the CW’s efficiency in treating surfactant
in laundry wastewater. The variable used in this study are the
wetland type of flow, which is surface flow (SF) and sub-surface
flow (SSF), and the hydraulic retention time (HRT), which is 3
days and 6 days. The objective of this study is to determine the
influence of the variables on the surfactant removal efficiency. To
compare the efficiency, parameters used in this study are
surfactant, pH, temperature, BOD/COD ratio, plant morfology, the
fresh and dry weight of the plants.
The SSF and SF reactor got the surfactant removal efficiency
of 84,87% and 79,69% with HRT of 3 days. Reactor with the HRT
of 6 days got the surfactant removal efficiency of 89,59% in SSF
reactor and 82,45% in SF reactor.
However the unplanted wetland got the surfactant removal
efficiency of 90,69% with HRT of 6 days. This conclude that the
plant have small influence on surfactant treatment.
