Abstract

========================================================= This study aimed to determine the suitability of the Self-Mixing Interferometry (SMI) signal with the human heart rate signal. SMI used the Fabry-Perot interferometer principle. SMI functioned a diode laser as a non-contact sensor. In addition, function generators and artificial ECG simulations were employed as inputs to the system design. There were two tests, namely non-heart rate testing with signals from the function generator and heart rate testing with artificial ECG simulations. The results displayed that the SMI signal from the function generator signal vibration detected the highest voltage of 0.21 V. Meanwhile, the SMI signal from the ECG simulation vibration had the same parts as the ECG simulation signal, namely PQRST wave with an isoelectric line located at a voltage of 0.17 V, point R was 0.21 V and point S was 0.13 V. The ratio of the value of the isoelectric line was 1: 6, the peak point ratio R was 1: 8, and the point S ratio was 1: 4. This signal proved that the SMI was able to detect non-contact human heart rate signals.
