Abstract

Due to the increasing maritime world innovation and technology, information systems usage in the seaport area is unavoidable for enhancing container terminals performance of the ports. This research analyzes information systems usage on enhancing port performance perceived service quality dimensions as a mediating role in Tanzania mainland’s container terminals, as an examples. Despite the insufficient infrastructures and facilities in the Tanzania seaports which result in delaying of loading and unloading of container ships that cause congestion of containers and cargo in the ports, efforts have been taken to invest information systems in the ports of Tanzania, still the information systems usage in the port of Tanzania are in a critical challenges in the terminals operation on its implementation. Therefore, the objectives were to examine the empirical relationships between information systems usage and service quality dimensions mediating to ports performance in Tanzania container terminals. By the use of quantitative research methodology, about 100 from 130 primary data were used for analysis after the questionnaires link distributed to the respondents through WhatsApp messages and emails. Research findings prove that investing in information systems usage has positive influence directly and indirectly on port performance. Only management as port service quality dimension appeared to be a significant positive factor in predicting the container terminals performance. The study recommends that it is vital for policy-makers and practitioners in the authority to encourage information systems usage in a bid to enhance performance. ===================================================================================================== Dengan semakin berkembangnya inovasi dan teknologi dunia maritim, penggunaan sistem informasi di kawasan pelabuhan tidak dapat dihindari untuk meningkatkan kinerja terminal peti kemas di pelabuhan. Penelitian ini menganalisis penggunaan sistem informasi pada peningkatan kinerja pelabuhan yang dirasakan dimensi kualitas layanan sebagai peran mediasi di terminal peti kemas Tanzania daratan, sebagai contoh. Meskipun infrastruktur dan fasilitas di pelabuhan Tanzania belum memadai yang mengakibatkan keterlambatan bongkar muat kapal peti kemas yang menyebabkan kemacetan peti kemas dan kargo di pelabuhan. Upaya telah dilakukan untuk menginvestasikan sistem informasi di pelabuhan Tanzania, masih penggunaan sistem informasi di pelabuhan Tanzania berada dalam tantangan kritis dalam operasi terminal pada implementasinya. Oleh karena itu, tujuannya adalah untuk menguji hubungan empiris antara penggunaan sistem informasi dan dimensi kualitas layanan yang memediasi kinerja pelabuhan di terminal peti kemas Tanzania. Dengan menggunakan metodologi penelitian kuantitatif, sekitar 100 dari 130 data primer digunakan untuk analisis setelah tautan kuesioner dibagikan kepada responden melalui pesan WhatsApp dan email. Temuan penelitian membuktikan bahwa investasi dalam penggunaan sistem informasi memiliki pengaruh positif secara langsung dan tidak langsung terhadap kinerja pelabuhan. Hanya manajemen sebagai dimensi kualitas pelayanan pelabuhan yang tampaknya menjadi faktor positif yang signifikan dalam memprediksi kinerja terminal peti kemas. Studi ini merekomendasikan bahwa sangat penting bagi pembuat kebijakan dan praktisi di otoritas untuk mendorong penggunaan sistem informasi dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja.
