Abstract

according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) The construction industry had a workforce of 8.3 million people in 2018, Construction workers cannot be separated from the dangers of work accidents as proven by the Social Security Administration (BPJS) which recorded 123,041 cases, while throughout 2018 it reached 173,105 cases with Work Accident Insurance (JKK) claims of Rp 1.2 trillion. Verbal safety is one of the functions of experts through the principle of leadership. This research plan discusses the relationship between verbal safety, safety culture, safety climate, and safety behavior on safety performance which is the basis of the performance of safety in any field. The research uses a questionnaire that will be answered by staff, supervisors, managers, in the East Java construction project so that it can be analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM-PLS) method to see the relationship of the variables that have been determined. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship that verbal safety influences safety behavior, safety culture, and safety climate to improve safety performance, but the direct relationship does not have a significant effect, therefore verbal safety needs to be re-mediated on the safety variable. behavior, safety culture, and safety climate to get a significant influence
