Abstract

Perkembangan perancangan video game untuk platform Steam di Indonesia
masih kurang dapat dikembangkan. Sebagian besar game lokal bermasalah pada
game design yang tidak seimbang pada tingkat kesulitan dan keahlian pemain.
Beberapa game lokal menunjukkan bahwa niche marketing dapat digunakan untuk
menaikkan awareness. Berdasarkan hal ini, untuk merancang video game buatan
lokal yang mendapatkan respons tinggi, game design yang digunakan harus optimal
dan pemanfaatan niche market seperti mecha dan shooter genre dapat dilakukan.
Perancangan dimulai dengan observasi produk terdahulu. Observasi pada
tahap pertama bertujuan untuk rancangan game yang memiliki genre action,
arcade, dan shooter. Setelah itu, observasi dilakukan pada desain mecha terdahulu.
Sesudah kedua observasi dilakukan, moodboards dibuat untuk mendapatkan mood
visual pada rancangan. Setelah itu, studi eksperimental dilakukan untuk
mendapatkan rancangan game design awal yang dibentuk dari hasil observasi awal.
Hasil rancangan tersebut kemudian dibahas melalui depth interview dengan video
game developer profesional. Observasi untuk penggunaan gaya pixel art dilakukan
setelah input dari developer profesional didapatkan. Setelah semua data didapatkan,
rancangan game design dimatangkan dengan studi eksperimental kedua.
Rancangan tersebut dibuat menjadi prototype yang dapat dimainkan, yang
kemudian diuji dengan heuristic analysis.
Hasil dari perancangan ini berupa sebuah video game yang diharapkan bisa
mendapatkan respons positif dari penggemar niche pada mecha genre, action genre,
arcade genre, shooter genre, dan pixel art, serta memberikan sebuah kerangka atau
acuan pada video game developer lokal dalam merancang berbagai video game
yang dapat memiliki daya jual secara lokal maupun internasional.

The development of video game design for the Steam platform in Indonesia
is still underdeveloped. Most of the local games have problems in the game design
which is not balanced in the level of difficulty and skill of the players. Several local
games show that niche marketing can be used to raise awareness. Based on this, to
design locally made video games that get high response, the game design used must
be optimal and the utilization of niche markets such as mecha and shooter genres
can be done.
The design begins with previous product observations. Observation in the
first stage aims to design a game that has the action, arcade, and shooter genres.
After that, observations were made on the previous mecha design. After the two
observations were made, moodboards were created to get a visual mood on the
design. After that, an experimental study was carried out to obtain an initial game
design design that was formed from the results of initial observations. The design
results are then discussed through in-depth interviews with professional video game
developers. Observations for the use of pixel art styles were made after input from
professional developers was obtained. After all the data were obtained, the game
design design was finalized with the second experimental study. The design is made
into a playable prototype, which is then tested by heuristic analysis.
The results of this design are in the form of a video game which is expected
to get a positive response from niche fans in the mecha genre, action genre, arcade
genre, shooter genre, and pixel art, as well as providing a framework or reference
for local video game developers in designing various video games. which can have
local and international selling power.
