Abstract

Limbah kemasan plastik sekali pakai menjadi masalah serius, terutama di kawasan Asia Pasifik. Gerakan "Bring Your Own" (BYO) yang lahir praktik reuse, salah satu praktik 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) kini menjadi solusi efektif dalam mengurangi limbah kemasan. Namun, praktik reuse menghadapi hambatan seperti kekhawatiran konsumen tentang kebersihan, persepsi konsumen terhadap waktu, dan faktor ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain wadah makanan eksisting dengan mitra, Swanz Brand, yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan konsumen urban di Asia untuk mendorong minat konsumen dalam mempraktikan reuse. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan berbagai data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam semi-terstruktur dengan mitra produksi; CEO Swanz Brand, dan empat pengguna wadah makanan yang mewakili pengguna akhir produk. Berbagai analisis, termasuk analisis aktivitas dan analisis terkait makanan, dilakukan untuk memetakan masalah utama dan kebutuhan. Berdasarkan kebutuhan, disimpulkan bahwa sebuah set wadah makanan dengan konsep yang dapat disesuaikan, efisien, dan portabel adalah konsep yang paling cocok. Konsep ini kemudian diimplementasikan dalam bentuk wadah makanan dari baja tahan karat dengan kompartemen tambahan, pemisah makanan yang dapat dilepas, dan tas bekal.

Single-use plastic packaging waste has become a global issue, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The "Bring Your Own" (BYO) movement, which emerged from the principle of reuse, one of the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), has become an effective solution in reducing packaging waste. However, the practice of reuse faces obstacles such as consumer concerns about hygienity, time pressure and other related economic factors. This research collected various data through observation, semi-structured in-depth interview with production partner; Swanz Brand CEO and four food container user that represents the end target user of the product. Various analysis including activity analysis and food-related analysis were conducted to map the main problem & needs. Derived from these needs, it is then concluded that a set of food container with a customizable, efficient, and portable concept is the most suitable concepts. This set consist of a classic food container with removable separator and additional compartment to accomodate various types of dishes.
