Storytelling is an age-old tradition. According to a 2018 survey by Tirto involving 1,529 respondents, 77.63% of them admitted to enjoying storytelling to their children or younger siblings. Out of the total respondents, 66.95% chose Si Kancil as their top pick for the storytelling narrative. Reading storybooks is the preferred method of storytelling, followed by spontaneous storytelling. While media and technology like audio-visual aids are also helpful, some respondents who do not engage in storytelling activities feel that the internet is sufficient to replace the need for storytelling. However, storytelling offers various advantages and can be enriched through interactions with others. To reignite interest in storytelling, media that aid in storytelling learning is necessary to help convey the story. Board games are considered suitable educational tools for storytelling, particularly for children, with Si Kancil tale as the subject matter. Knowledge of the basic elements of storytelling and board game design is crucial in this endeavor. Therefore, interviews with storytellers and board game designers were conducted as primary data for the design process to understand user needs. Literature reviews on Si Kancil tale, storytelling, board games, and user-centered approaches were also conducted as secondary data for design. The result of this design process is a board game that serves as a pedagogical tool to enhance understanding of the Si Kancil storytelling.
