Abstract
Pada dunia kerja kini sedang didominasi oleh karyawan generasi Y dari keseluruhan tenaga kerja yang ada di Indonesia. Perbedaan karakter dari generasi Y dan generasi sebelumnya dapat mempengaruhi sistem manajemen sumber daya manusia yang dibentuk dalam suatu perusahaan. Karakter generasi Y yang memiliki kecenderungan untuk mudah berpindah dan kurangnya keterikatan kerja (work engagement) pada perusahaan. Apabila kecenderungan ini terjadi, akan menimbulkan kerugian bagi perusahaan seperti kehilangan produktivitas dan biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk merekrut dan men-develop karyawan baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh karakter generasi, personal resources dan job resources terhadap work engagement pada karyawan generasi Y. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner terhadap 210 orang karyawan generasi Y yang bekerja pada sektor Pemerintahan, perusahaan swasta dan juga perusahaan BUMN. Metode yang digunakan adalah Partial Least Score-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel karakter generasi, personal resources dan job resources berpengaruh positif terhadap work engagement. Namun hanya variabel karakter generasi dan personal resources yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap work engagement. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan karakter antara generasi Y dengan generasi sebelumnya mempengaruhi tingkat work engagement terhadap perusahaan.

Nowadays, the problem that occurs in human resources management is dominated by Y generation employees in Indonesia. Differences in character from generation Y and previous generations can affect the human resource management system system which has been created in a company. The characters of Generation Y have a tendency to move easily and lack of work engagement to the company. If that is happening, it will make a company get a loss, such as loss of productivity and costs incurred to recruit and develop of new employees. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of generation character, personal resources and job resources on work engagement on Y generation employees. The study was conducted using survey data from 210 of Y generation employees who worked in the Government sector, private companies and also state-owned companies. The method used is Partial Least Score-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that variabel of generation character, personal resources and job resources had a significant effect on work engagement. But only character generation variables and personal resources have a significant effect on work engagement. This shows that the character differences between Y generation and previous generations influence the level of work engagement with the company
