Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perubahan
suhu dan perubahan panjang kupasan cladding serta coating
terhadap nilai rugi daya yang dihasilkan oleh fiber optik
multimode silika tipe G-651. Rugi daya yang dihasilkan diukur
dengan alat ukur optical power meter. Variasi panjang kupasan
yang digunakan yakni 2 cm, 3 cm dan 4,7 cm. Pengukuran rugi
daya dilakukan tiap perubahan panjang kupasan dan perubahan
suhu dari sumber pemanas berupa lampu bohlam dengan daya
100 watt. Perubahan suhu diukur tiap kenaikan dan penurunan
1°C dari suhu awal. Panjang gelombang pada power source
yang digunakan yakni 1310 nm dan 1550 nm. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar panjang kupasan cladding
dan coating serat optik menyebabkan nilai rugi daya semakin
besar. Pada panjang gelombang sumber 1310 nm sensitivitas
dari serat optik terhadap perubahan suhu lebih tinggi jika
dibanding dengan sensitivitas dari serat optik dengan panjang
gelombang sumber 1550 nm. Perlakuan pemberian suhu yang
semakin tinggi mengakibatkan nilai intensitas daya keluaran
yang ditangkap optical power meter semakin menurun, yang
menunjukkan terjadi banyak rugi daya pada fiber optik yang
diuji.

This experiment to determine the effect of temperature
changes and peeling length changes of cladding and coating
on power loss of multimode optical fiber types of silica G-651.
The resulted of loss was measured by an optical power meter.
Variation cladding and coating peeling length in this
experiment is 2 cm, 3 cm and 4,7 cm. Power loss measurement
was conducted in temperature changes and peeling length
changes with heating source light bulb 100 watt. Temperature
changes were measured in every increasing and decreasing
temperature of 1°C of the initial temperature. Wavelength
variation in the power source used the 1310 nm and 1550 nm.
The result from this experiment show that the greater peeling
length of optical fiber cladding and coating cause the losses is
getting bigger. At a wavelength source of 1310 nm, sensitivity
of optical fiber to temperature changes is higher when
compared with the sensitivity of optical fiber with a
wavelength source of 1550 nm. The higher of temperature,
result that the value of output power intensity is decreasing
which shows a lot of loss in optical fiber.
