Abstract
This research offers a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of 106 publications from the Scopus database, spanning from 1989 to 2023, to explore the relationship between flexible work arrangements and employee performance. The study delves into various flexible work arrangements such as telecommuting, flextime, job sharing, and compressed work weeks, with a particular emphasis on the impact of telecommuting during the COVID-19 pandemic. It identifies predominant sectors like information technology, healthcare, and industrials, and provides insights into leading contributors, countries, and authors in the field. Through methods like bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer, the paper maps out research trends, gaps, and the thematic evolution of the discourse. This study employs a systematic content analysis to investigate the impact of flexible work arrangements on employee performance, related to research method, area study, and sector. The findings suggest a positive correlation between flexible work arrangements and employee performance, emphasizing the need for diverse methodologies to further explore this relationship, especially in light of the pandemic's impact on work practices. The study concludes with a call for future research to build on the identified gaps, using a combination of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods to gain a more nuanced understanding of the effects of flexible work arrangements on employee performance.
