Abstract

Distributed Control System (DCS) control systems are very commonly used in large and complex plants. In processes that use this control system, the process control function is distributed across several individual controllers that handle different loops, namely the Local Control Unit (LCU). In previous research, a Distributed Control System (DCS) control system had been developed in the miniplant instrumentation workshop regarding two Local Control Units (LCU), namely level and flow, but the Local Control Unit (LCU) temperature and pressure had not been created. The design here is made as a control system where the temperature and pressure control variables are each handled by a local control unit which can be controlled from the server or client workstation and the entire system is integrated in a Distributed Control System (DCS) online and in real time. The design of the Local Control Unit (LCU) also includes the design of a pressure sensor using a modified pressure gauge with a sensitivity value of 4.7 mV/cm and using ON-OFF control mode with the best level of linearity at a pressure of 3-8 Psi.
