Abstract
Selanjutnya Pay Out Time (POT) selama 3,77 tahun. Nilai BEP 77,07%.

Brown seaweed or sargassum sp is one type of 3 types of seaweed. In brown seaweed there is an alginate compound which is often used as a thickener in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial paper and cat industries. The need for alginate in Indonesia is estimated to increase by 2.9% every year. This alginate itself has not been produced in Indonesia and all domestic needs depend on alginate imports from abroad. Of course, this does not have a good impact because Indonesia exports seaweed (raw material) which is cheap and imports finished alginate products which are more expensive. Even though Indonesia itself is believed to be able to produce its own alginate for domestic needs. To produce this alginate, several stages are required, including size reduction, acid treatment, formaldehyde treatment, base extraction, separation, bleaching, precipitation and dewatering. In establishing this factory, it is planned to produce 2,205 tons of alginate per year. This factory will be built in Bitung City, North Sulawesi by considering several aspects such as availability of raw materials, utilities, climate, weather and land availability. This production process includes 3 main stages, namely pre-treatment, extraction and drying process. In terms of the economic aspect, this factory has an Internal Rate of Return IRR = 22.12%, which is above bank interest of 9.95%. Furthermore, Pay Out Time (POT) is 3.77 years. BEP value 77.07%. A BEP value below 100% means that the sales value of alginate products per year exceeds the value of alginate production costs so this is very good and finally the NPV value is IDR. 232,018,644,824.6.
