Abstract

Namun, dominasi tren global seringkali mengikis identitas karakter bangsa.

In line with global trends, the creative economy in Southeast Asia has experienced rapid growth over the past decade. Indonesia, as a significant contributor, supports sustainable development in this sector. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2023, approximately 90.48% of Indonesia's creative economy sector is projected to grow significantly during the 2023-2024 period, with the fashion industry being one of the main sectors. Fashion has the potential to serve as a medium of personal expression, especially for young people who are searching for their identity through trends. However, the dominance of global trends often erodes the nation's character identity. On the other hand, trends that highlight nusantara culture, such as wayang kulit, are starting to gain attention. wayang kulit, particularly the Pandawa characters that represent virtue, can serve as examples of character building. Seeing this opportunity, designers aim to introduce the pandawa characters through wooden watch designs, to promote culture and develop positive nusantara character. Data collection was conducted using qualitative methods based on design thinking analysis principles, including structured interviews to understand user preferences and activities. The data was processed using empathymap and value proposition canvas techniques. The analysis results in designs that are cultural, geometric, authentic, and expressive, with alternative designs encompassing three different forms corresponding to the characteristics of each Pandawa. The final outcome of this study is the design of the Satria Pandawa wooden watch, which effectively expresses nusantara characteristics.
