Abstract
Operasi pengolahan air limbah di Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) Komunal Telaga Abadi yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Bedilan, Kabupaten Gresik, menghasilkan residu berupa limbah lumpur. Dalam mengolah limbah lumpur tersebut USAID IUWASH PLUS telah bekerja sama dengan ITS Tekno Sains untuk membangun sebanyak 4 unit Sludge Dewatering (SD) yang dilengkapi dengan media filter cloth. Namun sampai saat ini belum ada penelitian yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui berapa lama waktu pengeringan yang optimum pada unit SD tersebut untuk menghasilkan lumpur kering dengan karakteristik kadar air <60% sesuai Lampiran II Permen PUPR No 4 Tahun 2017. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis proses pengeringan lumpur pada unit SD dengan melakukan sampling pada lumpur IPAL Komunal yang dikeringkan setiap harinya. Sampel lumpur yang diambil akan dibawa menuju laboratorium untuk diuji karakteristik kadar air lumpur, total solid (TS), volatile solid (VS) dan fixed solid (FS), pengujian dilakukan setiap hari untuk mengetahui kandungan dan perubahan persentase nya selama proses pengeringan lumpur. Lalu, pengujian kadar fosfor (P), karbon (C), nitrogen (N), rasio C/N, pH, serta coliform akan dilakukan pada akhir pengeringan lumpur untuk mengetahui apakah lumpur olahan yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku kompos organik sesuai standar spesifikasi kompos yang tercantum dalam SNI 19-7030-2004. Setelah rangkaian pengujian laboratorium dilakukan, didapatkan waktu pengeringan optimum lumpur IPAL pada unit SD dengan media filter cloth adalah 7 – 23 hari pada periode 1 dan 9 – 21 hari pada periode 2. Selanjutnya, lumpur yang telah dikeringkan dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan baku kompos apabila dicampur dengan kapur dolomit untuk menetralkan derajat keasaman nya.

Wastewater treatment operations at the Telaga Abadi Communal Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL), located in Bedilan Village, Gresik Regency, produces by-products (residues) in the form of sewage sludge. In treating the sludge, USAID IUWASH PLUS has collaborated with ITS Tekno Sains to build 4 units of Sludge Dewatering equipped with filter cloth media. However, until now there has been no research conducted to determine how long the optimum drying time for the SD unit is to produce dry sludge with a moisture content characteristic of <60% according to Lampiran II Permen PUPR No 4 Tahun 2017. This study was conducted to analyze the sludge drying process on the SD unit by sampling the Communal WWTP sludge which is drained every day. Sludge samples taken will be taken to the laboratory to be tested for the characteristics of the sludge moisture content, total solid (TS), volatile solid (VS), and fixed solid (FS), testing is carried out every day to determine the content and percentage changes during the sludge drying process. Then, testing the levels of phosphorus (P), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), C/N ratio, pH, and coliform will be carried out at the end of sludge drying to determine whether the processed sludge produced can be used as raw material for compost according to standards. compost specifications listed in SNI 19-7030-2004. After laboratory testing, the optimum WWTP sludge drying time in the Sludge Dewatering unit with filter cloth media was 7 – 23 days in the first period and 9 – 21 days in the second period. Then, the dried sludge can be used as raw material for compost when mixed with dolomite lime to neutralize the degree of acidity.
