Abstract

Pada awal proses Station Clarification di Pabrik Gula PT. Gunung Madu Plantations, terdapat proses penambahan liquid phosphoric acid dalam dosis tertentu pada raw juice guna mengendapkan kotoran nira yang berupa padatan. Saat ini proses dosing ini masih dilaksanakan secara manual oleh operator Station Clarification dengan membuka dan menutup valve output tanki liquid phosphoric acid untuk mengalirkan liquid ke tanki raw juice dengan metode perkiraan yang menyebabkan jumlah liquid phosphoric acid yang ditambahkan sering tidak linier dengan flow raw juice yang dikirim dari Station Mill. Projek ini bertujuan untuk mengotomasikan proses dosing phosphoric acid terhadap raw juice menggunakan dosing pump. Dalam penerapannya, proses dosing ini dijalankan menggunakan metode ratio control dan PID guna mengatur dosis phosphoric acid yang ditambahkan dalam raw juice agar mendapat komposisi dosing yang tepat sesuai dengan standart ratio dalam satuan PPM. Keberhasilan dari projek ini dapat dilihat dari flow phosphoric acid yang linear atau sebanding dengan flow raw juice atau dapat dianalogikan sebagai nilai phosphoric acid content dalam raw juice yang sesuai dengan standart melalui uji coba 3 controller design, yaitu ziegler nichols, pole placement, dan cohen coon dengan berbagai scenario. Dari hasil pengujian terhadap berbagai skenario, diperoleh bahwa metode PID Ziegler-Nichols menunjukkan transient response yang konsisten kecil dan hasil perbandingan antara flow phosphoric acid dan raw juice yang lebih mendekati ratio berupa PPM yang telah ditentukan. Hal ini dapat diketahui dari error yang dihasilkan dari metode ini sekitar 1.69 % dan 4.41 %, sementara metode Cohen-Coon sekitar 1.54 % - 4.42 %, dan metode Pole-Placement sekitar 1.96 % dan 13.44 %.

At the beginning of the Station Clarification process at PT. Gunung Madu Plantations Sugar Mill, liquid phosphoric acid is added in a specific dosage to the raw juice in order to precipitate impurities in the juice in the form of solids. Currently, this dosing process is still carried out manually by the Station Clarification operator by opening and closing the output valve of the liquid phosphoric acid tank to allow the liquid to flow into the raw juice tank using an estimation method. This often causes the amount of liquid phosphoric acid added to be inconsistent with the flow of raw juice delivered from the Mill Station. This project aims to automate the phosphoric acid dosing process into raw juice using a dosing pump. In its implementation, this dosing process is operated using ratio control and a PID controller to regulate the phosphoric acid dosage added to the raw juice to achieve the correct dosing composition according to the standard ratio in PPM units. The success of this project can be observed from the phosphoric acid flow being linear or proportional to the raw juice flow, which can be analogized as the phosphoric acid content in the raw juice meeting the standard through trials of three controller designs: Ziegler-Nichols, Pole Placement, and Cohen-Coon under various scenarios. From the test results across different scenarios, it was found that the Ziegler-Nichols PID method demonstrated a consistently small transient response and a closer ratio between phosphoric acid flow and raw juice flow in PPM as specified. This is evident from the error produced by this method, which ranges from approximately 1.69% to 4.41%, while the Cohen-Coon method ranges from about 1.54% to 4.42%, and the Pole-Placement method ranges from about 1.96% to 13.44%.
