Abstract
PG Kebon Agung Malang merupakan industri gula yang memproduksi gula kristal putih melalui tahapan penerimaan tebu, penggilingan, pemurnian, penguapan, kristalisasi, putaran, pengeringan, penyaringan, dan pengemasan. Kegiatan magang mempelajari profil perusahaan, bahan baku dan bahan bantu, laboratorium produksi, utilitas, pengolahan limbah, serta penerapan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja. Hasil kegiatan diwujudkan dalam penyusunan diagram blok, process flow diagram, piping and instrumentation diagram evaporator, serta kajian Hazard and Operability Study untuk mengidentifikasi penyimpangan proses, penyebab, konsekuensi, tingkat risiko, dan tindakan pengendalian. Evaluasi teknis juga mencakup perhitungan neraca massa pada unit produksi dari stasiun gilingan hingga centrifuge gula SHS dan neraca energi pada lima evaporator. Pada kapasitas penggilingan 625.000 kilogram tebu per jam, diperoleh gula SHS sebesar 23.420,143 kilogram per jam dengan rendemen perhitungan 3,747 persen. Permasalahan khusus yang dianalisis adalah pemanfaatan produk keluaran continuous centrifuge yang masih mengandung molases, berkadar air relatif tinggi, berukuran tidak seragam, dan mudah menggumpal. Produk tersebut dirancang untuk diolah menjadi brown sugar melalui sugar silo, bucket elevator, fluidized bed dryer, cooling conveyor, ball mill, vibrating screen, dan sistem pengemasan. Rangkaian ini berfungsi menurunkan kadar air, mengendalikan suhu, menyeragamkan ukuran partikel, dan meningkatkan stabilitas produk. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa produk antara tersebut berpotensi menjadi produk bernilai tambah sekaligus meningkatkan efisiensi dan keberlanjutan produksi. Sebelum diterapkan secara industri, diperlukan uji coba, validasi mutu laboratorium, evaluasi kinerja alat, serta kajian kelayakan teknis dan ekonomi secara menyeluruh.

PG Kebon Agung Malang is a sugar factory producing white crystal sugar through sugarcane receiving, milling, juice purification, evaporation, crystallization, centrifugation, drying, screening, and packaging. The internship examined the company profile, raw and supporting materials, production laboratories, utilities, waste treatment, and occupational health and safety implementation. The results included a block diagram, process flow diagrams, an evaporator piping and instrumentation diagram, and a Hazard and Operability Study to identify process deviations, causes, consequences, risk levels, and control measures. The technical evaluation also covered mass balances for production units from the milling station to the SHS sugar centrifuge and energy balances for five evaporators. At a milling capacity of 625,000 kilograms of sugarcane per hour, SHS sugar production was calculated at 23,420.143 kilograms per hour, corresponding to a calculated yield of 3.747 percent. The specific problem investigated concerned the utilization of continuous centrifuge output containing residual molasses, relatively high moisture, nonuniform particle sizes, and a tendency to agglomerate. This material was designed to be processed into brown sugar using a sugar silo, bucket elevators, a fluidized bed dryer, cooling conveyor, ball mill, vibrating screen, and packaging system. The proposed line reduces moisture, controls temperature, standardizes particle size, and improves product stability. The design indicates that this intermediate stream can become a value-added product while improving production efficiency and sustainability. Before industrial implementation, pilot testing, laboratory quality validation, equipment performance evaluation, and a comprehensive technical and economic feasibility assessment are required.
