Abstract
Laporan magang industri ini membahas kegiatan praktik industri di PT. YTL Jawa Timur Paiton II Power Station Unit 5 dan Unit 6 dengan fokus pada operasi dan maintenance sistem pembangkit listrik tenaga uap serta tugas khusus pada Force Draft Fan dan ducting downstream ID Fan. Selama pelaksanaan magang, penulis mempelajari proses utama PLTU yang meliputi coal handling, sistem pembakaran, water steam cycle, pembangkitan listrik, serta sistem pendukung dan pengolahan limbah. Penulis juga mengikuti kegiatan operasional harian, inspeksi lapangan, pengamatan peralatan, diskusi teknis, dan penerapan keselamatan kerja di lingkungan PLTU. Pada tugas khusus, dilakukan analisis aliran fluida menggunakan ANSYS CFD untuk mengevaluasi head loss pada ducting outlet air heater hingga inlet gas-gas heater terhadap performa ID Fan pada Unit 5. Hasil analisis digunakan untuk memahami karakteristik aliran, titik kehilangan tekanan, serta kemungkinan perbaikan geometri ducting agar lebih efisien dan mendekati kondisi operasi yang aman dari surge. Secara umum, kegiatan magang ini memberikan pemahaman praktis tentang penerapan teori mekanika fluida dan perawatan mesin dalam sistem pembangkit listrik skala industri.

This industrial internship report discusses practical activities carried out at PT YTL Jawa Timur Paiton II Power Station Units 5 and 6, focusing on the operation and maintenance of the steam power plant as well as a special assignment related to the Force Draft Fan and the ducting downstream of the ID Fan. During the internship, the author studied the main processes of the power plant, including coal handling, combustion system, water–steam cycle, power generation, and supporting systems such as waste treatment. The author also participated in daily operation activities, field inspections, equipment observation, technical discussions, and the implementation of safety procedures in the power plant environment. In the special task, a fluid flow analysis using ANSYS CFD was conducted to evaluate head loss in the ducting from the air heater outlet to the gas–gas heater inlet and its impact on the performance of the ID Fan in Unit 5. The results of the analysis were used to understand flow characteristics, pressure loss locations, and potential geometric improvements of the ducting to achieve more efficient operation and avoid surge conditions. Overall, this internship provided practical insight into the application of fluid mechanics and machinery maintenance theories in a large-scale industrial power generation system.
