Abstract
MPLS merupakan mekanisme baru forwarding dengan label switching yang memiliki sifat connection oriented. Multicast merupakan teknologi transmisi paket data, perkembangan dari teknologi unicast dan broadcast. Multicast lebih bisa mengoptimalkan penggunaan bandwidth dalam jaringan dan lebih efisien dalam pentransmisian data. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian terhadap kemungkinan pengimplementasian MPLS dengan PC Router pada Backbone ITS dan BGP sebagai routing protokolnya. Pengujian dilakukan dengan melewatkan paket UDP pada beberapa sampel ukuran di kondisi jaringan tanpa beban dan pembebanan trafik self similar. Kemudian dianalisis QoS (Quality of Service) yang meliputi throughput dan delay yang diperoleh untuk transmisi multicast maupun unicast dari setiap LSP (Label Switch Protocol). Hasil throughput pada transmisi multicast lebih tinggi dari unicast dengan rata-rata throughput 8807,50 kbps pada kondisi jaringan tanpa beban dan 7383,93 kbps pada kondisi jaringan berbeban. Perubahan delay yang terjadi pada transmisi unicast maupun multicast sebanding dengan penambahan ukuran paket UDP yang dikirimkan. Semakin besar ukuran paket semakin besar delay yang terjadi. Diperoleh kenaikan rata-rata delay sebesar 1,027 detik pada kondisi jaringan tanpa beban dan 0,930 detik pada kondisi jaringan berbeban.

MPLS is a new mechanism of forwarding with label switching that has connection-oriented characteristics. Multicast is a data packet transmission technology, developed from unicast and broadcast technologies. Multicast is better able to optimize bandwidth usage in the network and is more efficient in data transmission. In this research, testing was conducted on the possibility of implementing MPLS with a PC Router on the ITS Backbone and BGP as its routing protocol. Testing was carried out by passing UDP packets at several sample sizes under no-load network conditions and self-similar traffic loading conditions. Then, QoS (Quality of Service) was analyzed, covering throughput and delay obtained for both multicast and unicast transmissions from each LSP (Label Switch Protocol). The throughput result for multicast transmission is higher than unicast, with an average throughput of 8807.50 kbps under no-load network conditions and 7383.93 kbps under loaded network conditions. The change in delay occurring in both unicast and multicast transmissions is proportional to the increase in the size of the sent UDP packets. The larger the packet size, the greater the delay that occurs. An average delay increase of 1.027 seconds was obtained under no-load network conditions and 0.930 seconds under loaded network conditions.
