Abstract

Ketersediaan kayu solid di Indonesia sebagai material utama kapal, khususnya bagian bangunan atas kapal ikan, semakin mengalami kelangkaan dan relatif mahal. Namun, masalah tersebut dapat diatasi dengan alternatif material laminasi bilah bambu. Dengan digunakannya sebagai bangunan atas, secara otomatis laminasi bilah bambu akan terkena perlakuan cuaca dan sinar ultraviolet yang membuat laminasi bilah bambu lebih cepat mengalami kerusakan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan cat anti-uv terhadap kekuatan tarik laminasi bilah bambu yang terkena perlakuan cuaca. Uji kekuatan tarik dengan standar ASTM D3500 dilakuan terhadap spesimen laminasi bambu (dengan aplikasi cat anti-uv dan tanpa cat anti-uv pada perlakuan tidak terekspos sinar matahari, hanya terekspos sinar matahari, dan terekspos sinar matahari dan hujan selama 4, 6, 8, dan 10 minggu). Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dengan metode mean forecasting, diketahui bahwa laminasi bilah bambu pada kondisi terekspos sinar matahari dan hujan tanpa aplikasi cat anti-uv memiliki umur pakai 3,69 tahun dan dengan aplikasi cat anti-uv 12,80 tahun. Hasil tersebut didapatkan dari syarat kuat tarik minimal material kapal kayu BKI sebesar 40 MPa. Biaya produksi bangunan atas kapal ikan 20 GT berbahan laminasi bilah bambu (untuk jangka waktu operasi selama 25 tahun) tanpa cat anti-uv adalah sebesar Rp 207.986.899 sedangkan dengan cat anti-uv dibutuhkan Rp 72.499.329 sehingga dapat menghemat hingga Rp 135.487.570 atau sebesar 65,14%.

The availability of solid wood in indonesia as the main material of fishing vessel, especially the superstructure of fishing vessels, is leading to be scarce and relatively expensive. However, this problem can be overcome with the alternative material of bamboo laminated. With its use as a superstructure of fishing vessels, bamboo laminated will be automatically exposed to weather treatment and ultraviolet rays that makes bamboo laminated quickly breaking down . Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of anti-uv paint application on the tensile strength of bamboo laminated affected by weather treatment. The ASTM D3500 standard on tensile strength test is subjected to bamboo laminated specimens (with anti-uv paint application and without anti-uv paint in non-weather-exposure treatment, exposed only to the sunlight, and exposed to the sunlight and rain for 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks). Based on calculation result with mean forecasting method, it is known that bamboo laminated material that had been exposed to the sunlight and rain treatment without anti-uv paint application has a life span up to 3.69 years and with anti-uv paint application 12,80 years. These results are obtained from the minimum tensile strength requirement of BKI’s rules of wooden ship material 40 MPa. The production cost of the 20 GT fishing vessels’ superstructure made of bamboo laminated (for 25 years of operation) without anti-uv paint is Rp 207,986,899 while the anti-uv paint is Rp 72,499,329, which can save up to Rp 135,487,570 or 65.14%.
