Abstract
Sambungan adalah hasil dari penyatuan beberapa bagian atau konstruksi dengan menggunakan suatu cara tertentu. Sambungan memenuhi fungsi kekuatan, teknologi dan operasional-estetis yang penting dalam konstruksi furnitur. Hal ini diperkuat oleh banyak publikasi yang menganalisis pengaruh berbagai faktor pada kekuatan sambungan rangka furnitur tergantung pada jenis sambungan, material komposit dan lem, serta dampaknya terhadap distribusi tekanan. Sambungan memiliki peluang yang besar untuk bisnis. Selain itu, produk sambungan selalu mengalami perkembangan sampai saat ini. Banyak bermunculan sambungan-sambungan yang memperbaharui sistem sambungan yang sebelumnya.
Saat ini, fungsi sambungan mengalami pergeseran. Mulai muncul produk-produk yang mengangkat sambungan sebagai point of interest. Dengan sistem sambungan, fleksibilitas dalam konstruksi bisa dicapai. Konsep pengembangan sistem sambungan untuk konstruksi fleksibel tersebut dapat diaplikasikan pada berbagai produk seperti display pameran. Dengan menerapkan sistem sambungan pada display pameran, dapat memudahkan sistem perakitan dan pembongkaran dalam display pameran yang bersifat sementara dan portable. Tidak hanya itu konstruksi dalam display pameran akan lebih fleksibel sesuai kebutuhan dengan sistem sambungan.
Metode desain diawali dengan studi literatur tentang sambungan, produk-produk dengan sambungan serta display pameran dan dilanjutkan dengan rancang bangun eksperimental. Studi literatur dilakukan untuk mempelajari sistem sambungan, material dan peluang pengembangan sambungan. Kemudian, Metode rancang bangun eksperimental yang dilakukan adalah eksplorasi sistem sambungan, eksperimen sambungan kepada material serta eksperimen struktur dan konstruksi untuk mencari inovasi baru. Hasil dari eksperimen adalah sistem sambungan yang dapat menghasilkan berbagai macam konfigurasi bentuk dan sarana display pameran meliputi meja dan rak display.

Joint or connection is the result of the union of some parts or construction by using any particular ways. Joint fulfill important power, technology and operational-aesthetic functions in furniture construction. This is reinforced by many publications that analyze the influence of various factors on the strength of the skeletal connection of furniture depending on the type of connection, composite material and glue, as well as its impact on pressure distribution. Joint have a great opportunities for businesses. In addition, the connection product has always been progressing to this date. Many emerged joints that renewed the previous connection system.
Nowadays, the joint function is shifting. Began to appear products that lift the joint as a point of interest. Using the joint system, flexibility in construction can be achieved. The concept of developing a connection system for such flexible construction can be applied to various products such as exhibition displays. By applying a joint system to an exhibit display, it can ease an assembly and disassembly process in exhibit displays that are temporary and portable. Moreover, the construction of exhibition displays will be more flexible as needed using joint system.
The design method begins with literature studies on joints, products with joint, exhibition displays and continued with experimental method. Literature study was conducted to study the joint system, materials and joint development opportunities. Then, the experimental method that was performed was the exploration of the joint system, how to connect the joint to the material as well as the structural and construction experiments to find new innovations. The result of the experiment is a joint system that can produce a variety of shape configurations and exhibition display facilities including desks and display racks.
