Abstract

Telecommuting or "working from home", is a new option for working systems that exist in the industrial era 4.0. Remote working trends are also
supported by growing communication and information technology. Software Engineer is responsible for creating web-based applications using programming
languages. Physical interaction at work is very minimal because the main key to the work of a Software Engineer is cognitive ability. Therefore, intellectual skills need to be considered as a tool for analyzing human performance.
This study aims to develop a model of measuring the mental workload of Remote Workers using SWAT method. SWAT will describe the multi-dimensional model of workload which consists of three elements, namely (1) Time Load, (2) Mental Effort Load, and (3) Psychological Stress Load. Whereas NASA TLX can accommodate SWAT deficiencies by including elements (4) Own Performance and (5) Physical Demand. As well as validity tests using SPSS software and reliability test. From the measurement of the mental workload of the SWAT method it was found that 26 of 54 respondents had a high workload. There were 6 respondents who were workers with a maximum mental workload value of 100 while Development and Operations Engineers had the lowest mental workload value of 18.55. From the test results indicate that the SWAT method is valid and reliable.
