Abstract

Penelitian mengenai cracked soil yang telah dilakukan Hutagamissufardal & Mochtar, 2018 adalah memodifikasi alat uji geser yaitu, alat uji geser bisa digunakan untuk mengetahui nilai kohesi dan sudut geser internal tanah pada kondisi tanah retak (cracked soil). Namun, penelitian yang telah dilakukan tidak mempertimbangkan nilai liquid limit dan void ratio dari sampel tanah lempung yang diujikan. Seperti yang diketahui bahwa, nilai kohesi tanah dan sudut geser tanah merupakan fungsi dari jenis tanah dan kepadatan. Jenis tanah dapat diketahui dari plasticity index (PI), plasticity limit (PL), atau liquid limit (LL), sedangkan kepadatan tanah dapat diketahui dari berat jenis tanah dan void ratio sehingga dibutuhkannya korelasi antara parameter liquid limit dan void ratio dengan nilai sudut geser internal tanah. Selain itu, teori serta pengujian untuk tanah pada kondisi cracked soil masih minim/butuh dikembangkan sehingga dibutuhkan studi lebih lanjut mengenai cracked soil.
Material yang dipakai dalam pengujian adalah tanah lempung dari daerah Surabaya, Bojonegoro, pasir halus, dan kaolinite; material dicampuran untuk mendapatkan beberapa nilai untuk liquid limid atau pasticity index. Dalam mempersiapkan benda uji, material yang sudah dikumpulkan
dicampurkan dalam keadaan slurry dan diberi beban 1-tahap sesuai konsistensi tanah yang ingin dicapai. Benda uji yang sudah selesai dibebani kemudian diuji dengan tekanan air 0.0 kg/cm2, 0.5 kg/cm2, dan 1.0 kg/cm2 dengan alat uji direct shear sesuai standard ASTM D 6528 dan direct shear modifikasi. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan rumusan empiris antara plasticity index dan void ratio dengan nilai sudut geser tanah pada kondisi cracked serta didapatkan korelasi sudut geser tanah pada kondisi cracked tanah adalah sebagai berikut: phi = -0.144LL - 20.456e + 50.463 dan didapatkan korelasi nilai kohesi tanah sebagai berikut: Cu = -0.179e + 0.4199

Research on cracked soil that Hutagamissufardal & Mochtar, 2018 did were to modify direct shear machine, thus direct shear machine was able to test the spciemen under cracked condition. However, the research didn’t consider the liquid limit and void ratio from clay specimens. As is known that the value cohesion and friction angle are the function of soil type and density, therefore the soil type can be determined by the soil value of plasticity index (PI), plasticity limit (PL), or liquid limit (LL). And the soil consistency can be determined by the value soil density and the value of the void ratio, thus the correlation between the liquid limit or plasticity index and void ratio parameter are needed to estimate the friction angle in cracked condition. In addition, further studies are reqired for soil under cracked condition.
The Material used in this study was clay from Surabaya and Bojonegoro area, fine sand, and kaolinite; they were mixed to obtain various soil liquid limit or plasticity value (from low plasticity to high plasticity). In order to prepare the soil specimens; the materials were mixed in slurry condition and loaded with 1-step loading according to soil consistency value. Specimens that have been finished loaded are tested using water pressure variations of 0.0 kg/cm2, 0.5 kg/cm2, and 1.0 kg/cm2 with
a direct shear machine which refers to ASTM D 6528 and modified direct shear machine procedure.
The test results showed that an empirical correlation between the plasticity index and void ratio with friction angle value under the cracked condition with a friction angle under the cracked condition that obtained from this study are: phi = -0.144LL - 20.456e + 50.463 and Cu = -0.179e + 0.4199
